lyrics

The Song Of The Wandering Aengus

I went out to the hazel woods
because a fire was in my head
I cut & peeled a hazel wand
& hooked a berry to a thread
& when white moths wherein the wing
& moth-like stars were flickering out
I dropped the berry in the stream
& caught a little silver trout
when I had laid it on the floor
I went to fan the fire aflame
& something rustled rustled on the floor
& someone called me by my name & ran
& vanished in the brightening air .

tho I am old with wandering
thru hollow lands & hilly lands
I will find out where she has gone
& kiss her lips
& take her hand
& walk the long & dappled grass
& pluck till time & tide are done
the silver apples of the moon -
the golden apples of the sun .
