Let The Evening In
01:08
|
|||
let the evening in by the door
be not so frightened
be not so afraid
for no harm ever became the one
that let the evening in from the storm
to begin, begin again .

Children Of The Winter House : the clear note of summoning/
greeted by the dawn/children of the winter house/tracks across the moors/sorceries cry shrill & clear/stillness by the tarn/cypress shadows fall across the windows of the world/needle dark & blue beyond/the buds that break the bough/words that bind the soul/enteined enfolded come the notes/I hear the distant drum that bids you start the lifelong dance/and cut the ties of blood/the twilight call in shadow locked/the figures drifting slow/children of the winter house/now empty & alone/winter stars wheel, sliver-bright above ethedragon stone/& far below the winter house awaits the next - alone .

The Garden Of Wild Stars
03:59
|

& he is brave/& not such a stranger/beneath the blazing sky
set like a stage/eureka adventuring/acting out meaning/
in masks newly given/
& good to the taste .
now that he's found you/dead is the day -
the perfect fool is blundering/where you are stumbling/
beneath the garden of wild stars & pain .
eyes, two tiny portholes/the night likewise frames him/slowly slipping around the place like tar, like pitch, like beauty beckoning into earth/
to fill out a blank slate .
&, the sung shadows are kind to the eyes that smile upon them/kind,
as to a slave/as to a believing lover - & the night it is gathering,
reeling & hauling you in/you, masked in your dismay .
& now that he's found you : dead is the day .

Stricken Fields
05:19
|
|||
Stricken Fields
on some sad, so lonely, so barren day when we ran upon the place where all this ends & an emptiness begins its cold command/all is sorrowing/all is sand/all is vanishing/beneath your hand/& the bare fields show my want/& the dead fields show my belonging & a love .
the stricken fields are my want / the stricken fields are my love -
all my love .
as we waken like sleep/numbed & troubled, numbed unto the skin/& were lashed so sorrowing/walking from this vision & slowly fading/& I'm powerless in fear/in a guessing game of salt tears/& the bare fields are all my want, all my love .
the stricken fields are my love / the stricken fields are my want -
& all my love .

Dun Fox
06:35
|
|||
shriek to the wind's echo/low winds moan/how they moan/
dun fox in the lowlands - ready to leave his home -
he dons his boots -
he dons his cloak - & he walks out - garbed as a man -
to walk in the woods - with words to ensnare - all in the green wood .
o lady fair, I know not of your name - or from whence you came -
but, in this forest I am lord - & you will find much to please you -
&, into his castle - into his care - into his arms so rare -
she could not but fall - for he is lord -
he is lord of the forest where she would tread -
& she must love the dun fox right enough - she is bound -
to be held - all in the green wood .
come end of nigh - come first light - she is out from the forest fleeing - heavy of foot - slow of gait - to think on all that has happened -
&, down to the town - her arms all a-raised, lamenting of her story - crying & wailing - like one turned mad - o to think of the sly fox .
so, brothers three - with seven hounds - did strike out for to go -
& let their sister walk again the woods - so that he would see .
&, old dun fox - he espied the sister - & found that he could resist her - he donned his cloak - he donned his boots - & he walked out -
garbed as a man -&, the brothers three let loose the hounds -
to bring down dun fox by his cloak -
dun fox spoke - the hounds turned about - & the red, red blood fell -
all in the green wood .

Twelve Thousand Days
01:57
|
|||
a jewel trembles on the lip - refracting twelve thousand days - time will grind the light to dust - that the west wind blows away - to cut, incise on graven stone - reflect the eye above - believe in this great divide - it burdens us with love - stumble then run & then walk & then crawl - a life made up of steps - & each one a start of a journey, the journey - & each one as good as the next - the words have been cast & the ink is now dry - on the story that no-one can tell - we must follow, must we follow you down all the days - as the water drains out of the well - a jewel trembles on the lips, refracting 12'000 days -
time will grind the light to dust that the west wind blows away .

The Song Of The Wandering Aengus
I went out to the hazel woods
because a fire was in my head
I cut & peeled a hazel wand
& hooked a berry to a thread
& when white moths wherein the wing
& moth-like stars were flickering out
I dropped the berry in the stream
& caught a little silver trout
when I had laid it on the floor
I went to fan the fire aflame
& something rustled rustled on the floor
& someone called me by my name & ran
& vanished in the brightening air .
tho I am old with wandering
thru hollow lands & hilly lands
I will find out where she has gone
& kiss her lips
& take her hand
& walk the long & dappled grass
& pluck till time & tide are done
the silver apples of the moon -
the golden apples of the sun .

Burning Incense
02:30
|
|||
rose of attar/marbled black & chased with silver/indistinct/
I cannot see/only, feel .
lidded eyes stare/yellowsick with faded glory/hungering/remembering other times/so the stones fall/creating order from disorder/
traceries, patternings/his eyes can see/as the words come, thread & spiral,
weaving meaning shackling/binding bone/
bone to bone/burning incense/through the smoke & haze & flowers/through the night/burning incense .
